BD Lee School
BD Lee School (Gaffney, SC)
This project is an asset recovery effort and demolition of remaining facilities. Assets are being staged in areas to protect them from loss until sale. Once an area is clear of assets then it is demolished.
Target is working closely with the Owner and auction company to assure that recovery efforts are maximized.
Asbestos was abated, universal wastes collected, and refrigerant recovered prior to starting demolition. Building components will be sorted and recycled with any proceeds adding to the asset recovery.
Over 100,000 square foot of buildings and structures will be removed/demolished in three months.

UNC Chapel Hill
Koury Natatorium (Chapel Hill, NC)
The project, located between the Dean Smith Center and the UNC Basketball Hall of Fame, involved the physical separation of the front offices from the rest of the Koury Natatorium Building which
was to remain in place and occupied during the work.
The interior was gutted to minimize nuisance dust migration prior to the building separation. Mechanical means were used to separate and demolish the building while maintaining a ventilation shaft, mechanical room and live fire suppression system.
Grade beams that supported the structure were removed and the existing caissons were hammered down below grade.
A second mobilization was required to demolish the above grade ventilation shaft and mechanical room after the building that remained was changed over to a new system. The work took place on an active campus with heavy pedestrian traffic with no incidents.
